It looks like Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) might be uncovering a conspiracy “that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld” in The Punisher’s newest synopsis.

Sure, The Punisher might not have a release date just yet, but it seems like the studio’s been busy marketing the highly anticipated web series, releasing new photos and videos that add to the hype of Franken-Castle’s upcoming Marvel Netflix solo series. Now a new synopsis helps map out the overall plot of The Punisher, and it seems like Frank’s going to have to dig deep in his new show.

Here’s the new synopsis that Marvel TV’s rolled out to the public:

“After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.”

Like Luke Cage (Mike Colter), it’s no surprise to hear that The Punisher’s become a name in New York. The last time fans saw him in Daredevil, the antihero decided to blow up his own home after he finally found a way to get revenge on the people that killed his family. Frank’s past still seems to be an important part of The Punisher, and we’re excited to see the series add more layers to the character’s back story.

The Punisher is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2017.
