The Orville's Adrianne Palicki Was 'Devastated' Over Failed Wonder Woman TV Show

Wonder Woman is one of 2017's biggest movies, garnering critical acclaim and making a ton of money for Warner Bros. Since the film is such a success, it's easy to forget how long the character was in development hell, especially since she was almost in a television show for NBC. The Orville and Agents of SHIELD actress Adrianne Palicki would have been the title character and she recently shared some thoughts about the canceled program.

Palicki told The Wrap that she was devastated when the show was canceled, despite getting some buzz from fans. She does maintain a positive outlook since she is currently in The Orville, but she admits that the show's cancellation hurt her. Furthermore, she also feels that they were a year or two too soon since the early MCU boom was happening around this time.

"I was devastated for a while after, I'm not going to lie, but I got to paid to wear that costume! It was fun, and also I wouldn't have been able to do this [‘Orville'] role if I was playing Wonder Woman, so I'm thankful for all these things."

The actress also praised Gal Gadot's performance as the sensational hero, saying she was great and was happy seeing more strong women in films. Palicki is no stranger to comic book adaptations, portraying Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird in Agents of SHIELD and starring in GI Joe: Retaliation, though she was mostly eye candy in that film.

While we'll never know if Palicki's Wonder Woman show would have been a success, it's good seeing the iconic hero make an impact on the big screen with Gal Gadot at the helm. Gadot is set to reprise her role in a 2019 sequel and next week's Justice League, which hits cinemas on November 17.
