The New Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer Just Broke a Marvel Record

Over the weekend, the new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer was released, and apparently, you were not the only one who watched it on repeat.

Marvel Studios' trailer has become Disney's second biggest teaser trailer ever (just behind the company's live-action Beauty and the Beast) and the biggest teaser debut ever for a Marvel movie, tallying 81 million views in its first 24 hours of premiere.

"No kidding -- I'm, like, floored," writer/director James Gunn wrote on his Facebook page, confirming the trailer's view count. "Thank all of you so very much for watching it (more than once), and sharing it, and welcoming Baby Groot and Mantis with open arms."

The trailer was released on Saturday at Comic-Con Experience 2016 in São Paulo, Brazil, teasing the return of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and baby Groot (Vin Diesel), and new characters such as The Mantis (Pom Klementiff).

Other info about other full-length trailers: Marvel's Captain America: Civil War debuted to $179 million in its first weekend at the box office, and currently holds the records for the most views in a single day for a Marvel Cinematic Universe title, with 94.7 million views worldwide.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to release in theaters on May 5, 2017.
