The Mario Pikachu Crossover is a Good Reason to Visit Japan

Of the crossovers in the Nintendo franchise, you may want to sit down for this one.

Nintendo has partnered with The Pokemon Company to release some crossover merchandise. For this particular line of products, it will be featuring Pokemon's lovable Pikachu and the iconic mustache and costumes of the Mario brothers.

Announced over the official Pokemon Japanese website, the limited edition line features adorable plushies of Pikachu as either Mario or his brother Luigi, some playing cards, a new Nintendo 3DS case, shirts, and Hanafuda cards.

The Mario Pikachu line—isn't that name just adorable?—will be out on Oct. 29. The sad thing is that it's only available in the Pokemon Centers in Japan. If you're in Kyoto during that time, you'll be in luck, since more items are said to be in the works to be revealed in that particular branch.

The two companies have not yet announced a Western release for the crossover franchise. And there are no announcements of a game coming out from this particular crossover.

But it would be a nice idea. The Pokemon franchise is still enjoying its 20th year anniversary, and what better way to enjoy this than a nice crossover of what could be the two most popular franchises this side of Nintendo.

Better idea—how about that crossover game come out in the Nintendo Switch? Nintendo has so opportunities in its arena, let's just hope they take advantage of it.

In the meantime, check out the rest of the franchise items below.
