The Flash Season 5 Reportedly Adding Rag Doll As New Villain

Barry Allen has dealt with all kinds of villains in the past four seasons of The Flash. However, it looks like he will finally meet the supernaturally bendy baddie Rag Doll in Season 5.

A new casting call for the CW series is looking for male actors in their 20s to portray Peter Merkel. According to That Hashtag Show, the character is "an incredibly emotional damaged criminal who has the power to bend out of shape and fit his whole body into small spaces." Naturally, the show is hoping to cast an actual contortionist or dancer who can twist their body into unnatural angles.

In the comic books, Merkel is "triple-jointed," which makes him even more flexible than double-jointed people. The villain's body is also able to absorb massive blows that would render normal people unconscious. Rag Doll's later incarnation is a skilled hypnotist and can manipulate dolls to do his bidding.

Rag Doll was initially introduced as Jay Garrick's nemesis in The Golden Age of The Flash. However, the show could use his later incarnation who was incarcerated in Arkham Asylum. It's an edgier take on the character that could challenge Team Flash in the upcoming season.

Merkel is certainly a welcome addition to Barry's Rogues gallery in The Flash. He will be joining new villain Cicada in Season 5, which will also bring back fan favorites Gorilla Grodd and King Shark. In addition to that, the series will introduce the female version of Spin, who will be portrayed by Kiana Madeira.

The Flash Season 5 will air on The CW on October 9.
