The Flash Confirms Season Premiere Will Be Based Off This Big DC Event

The Flash actor Grant Gustin (who plays the main character Barry Allen) revealed that the premiere for the show's season 3 would be titled "Flashpoint" after the major DC Event. After recieving permission from the show producer Greg Bertlanti, he tweeted the premiere episode title to the world.

The title of premiere is a reference to the 2011 DC Comics crossover event that kicked off DC's "New 52" reboot. The crossover focuses on Barry Allen, The Flash, accidentally creating an alternate reality when he travels back in time to save his mother from her death at the hands of the Reverse Flash. In the comics version of the Flashpoint reality, Barry found he was now powerless. He also discovered many other disturbing changes: Bruce Wayne had died in this reality and his father Thomas was Batman instead, Wonder Woman's Amazons and Aquaman's Atlanteans were engaged in a brutal war, and Superman has been abducted.

Season 3 of The Flash showing their version of the Flashpoint universe was perhaps inevitable, considering the season 2 finale had Barry traveling back in time to save his mother, just like in the comic. You can see Dave Gigg's review of the episode here.

However, the news is exciting because it's a bit of a mystery what the show's take the Flashpoint universe will be like. After all, Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman aren't part of the Flash's cast as of now, so there will have to be other big changes for Barry to contend with. The episode will premiere on Tuesday, October 4th.

Are you looking forward to seeing "Flashpoint" hit the TV screen? What do you think will happen?
