The Elder Scrolls VI Will Be Single-Player Only

While Fallout 76 looks like it will be a quality game, some fans were a bit bothered when the rumored online multiplayer ended up being a reality. Some of those negative feelings went away when it was revealed that the game could still be played solo but some felt that this was against the #SavePlayer1 initiative they tried to start last year.

This is why it's actually kind of a relief to know that The Elder Scrolls VI will be a single-player game only. According to an interview that PC Gamer had with Bethesda's vice president of marketing Pete Hines, the early announcement of this game was to show that a massive single-player RPG was coming.

"[The announcement] also helps convince folks, like, look, this is not forever-more what we're doing. We are going to do a game that's just single-player next time around, and yes, we are going to get to Elder Scrolls 6. There's going to be a long time before we're ready to talk about what those are, because we want the time between when we start to talk about it and it comes out to not be two years long or three years long. But it just gives folks a better idea of where we're headed and understanding what the studio is working on and trying to do."

Considering how companies like EA have basically given up on single-player games, it is nice knowing that an RPG of this scale can be played without the need for multiplayer. Granted, the announcement of Fallout 76 did state that players could go through that journey alone but there is no doubt that online multiplayer will be a big part of it.

Don't expect a release date for Elder Scrolls VI anytime soon. Hell, some are assuming that the game will be coming to next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Two.
