The Batman: J.K. Simmons Hasn't Met Matt Reeves

The future of the DCEU is a bit odd right now, especially after Justice League underperformed in the box office. While films like Wonder Woman 2, Shazam, and this year's Aquaman have been given the go-ahead, installments after those are in question. Reports have stated that Batman actor Ben Affleck is, once again, conflicted on if he should stay or go, which is probably why there hasn't been much news about Matt Reeves' The Batman.

Unsurprisingly, with plans constantly changing, it's no surprise that someone like J.K. Simmons hasn't even met Reeves yet.

Speaking with Collider, Simmons is hoping that The Batman will add some more emphasis to his portrayal of Jim Gordon, assuming it goes the way everyone thinks it will. The veteran actor also revealed that none of his Justice League scenes were part of the reshoots and he only found out about them sometime after. While he admits that he hasn't met Matt Reeves yet, he is hoping for a fun time.

"Assuming that we're gonna go forward, the way we think it will, I'm really looking forward to that. Hopefully, it will be really fun and the character will expand a little bit, particularly in the stand-alone Batman movie. There will be more to do. I guess it's Matt Reeves now for that one, who I haven't met. So, it will be a whole new collaborator to get together and work with, hopefully."

It looks like Simmons is staying on as Commissioner Gordon, though the same can't be said for Mr. Affleck. With rumors claiming that Jake Gyllenhaal and Jon Hamm are up for the role once Affleck severs ties after the Flashpoint film.

The Batman currently has no release date. Aquaman comes out on December 21.
