The Avengers Were Inches Away From Taking Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet in New Infinity War Image

If you've seen Avengers: Infinity War, you know that the most debated scene in the movie is the one in Titans. This is where Spider-Man, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and some of the Guardians came close to defeating Thanos and taking his gauntlet before Star-Lord realized that the villain killed Gamora. Plenty of arguments have been made because of this, some siding with Peter Quill and others lambasting him.

However, one thing that was never clear was how close Thanos came to losing the Infinity Gauntlet. A new image shared on Reddit revealed just how close the Avengers were to winning and it is heartbreaking.

A rare image of Thanos' Left Hand. So. Damn. Close.

As fans can see, Spider-Man was literally inches away from taking the Gauntlet of had Star-Lord not interfered. To be fair, a number of the characters could have subdued Quill during the fight so the blame doesn't fall entirely on him. He did lose the love of his life after all.

Still, the fact that they were so close adds to the tragedy of Infinity War's ending, which had the Mad Titan eliminate half of everything in the universe. Thanks to the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and The Wasp we now know that time travel is possible so expect Scott Lang to play a huge (haha size pun) role in the next film.

Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019.
