Tested Built A Costume Of The Messenger Droid From Star Wars Battlefront II

The trailers for Star Wars Battlefront have given us a good look at the Emperor's messenger droid which relays special information straight from Palpatine himself. Tested has teamed up with EA to make an accurate costume for the character and they had it paraded around the New York Comic-Con.

Check it out:

In partnership with EA's Star Wars Battlefront II, we made a cosplay of the Messenger Droid character for New York Comic Con! Frank and his team took on the challenge of bringing this imposing character to life, simulating its distinct holographic head with beautiful practical effects. The resulting effect was stunning!

The suit looks absolutely amazing, and the head of the costume is definitely the most interesting part of the piece. Besides the custom dome that was made, Frank Ippolito—the guy wearing the costume—had to put on a Palpatine facemask and the lights on the helmet made it look like a hologram of the Emperor. I'm wondering if making the lights in the helmet flicker a little would have made the costume feel more like a hologram.

If you look at the video, some people kind of don't know who the messenger droid is or where he comes from, but hopefully the character gets more attention when Star Wars Battlefront II comes out. Every Star Wars fan knows how much the fanbase loves these side characters.

Star Wars Battlefront II comes out Nov. 17.
