Terry Pratchett's 'The Wee Free Men' is Being Made into a Feature Film

Sir Terry Pratchett's young adult novel, The Wee Free Men, is being adapted into a feature film, the official Discworld website reports. The film is going to be written by Terry Pratchett's daughter, Rhianna Pratchett, who has won awards for her work as a video game screenwriter. The Jim Henson Company will be partnering with Narrativia Limited, the production company that holds the exclusive right to the later Mr. Pratchett's work, to make the film. Rhianna Pratchett is a co-director of Narrativia.

The Wee Free Men is one of the many books set in Terry Pratchett's fictional Discworld universe. It follows a young witch named Tiffany Aching who goes on a quest to rescue her brother from the monstrous Queen of Fairies armed with a frying pan. The book has won several awards, including the Locus Award for Best Young Adult Book in 2004 and the 2003 Parenting Book of the Year.

Rhianna Pratchett speaks of her excitement for the film in the press release. I've loved the Jim Henson Company's work all my life, so it's a great honor to team up with them and bring Wee Free Men to the big screen. Brian Henson, who will be serving as a producer, said "As a family owned company, we fully understand the importance of legacy properties. The Discworld series is a richly developed world with devoted fans, myself included, and there is no one better than Rhianna to bring Terry's beloved project to life on the big screen."

Other producers on the film include Rhianna Pratchett, Rob Wilkins, Rod Brown and Vince Raisa. Sir Terry Pratchett passed away in March of 2015 and as Henson mentions, his daughter has worked hard to uphold his legacy ever since. Pratchett is the acclaimed author of over 41 books and was knighted in 2009 for his services to literature.
