Taron Egerton Stars in First Teaser for Robin Hood

Taron Egerton has proven himself to be quite the leading man with the Kingsman franchise, and now he's set to be the new Robin Hood in Lionsgate's Robin Hood. A new teaser has just dropped, and it features Egerton wearing a literal hood, and Jamie Foxx as Little John.

Here's the official synopsis for the film:

Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.

The movie also has Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One, Ready Player One) as the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham. Maid Marian will be played by Eve Hewson, and Friar Tuck will be comedian Tim Minchin.

With Robin Hood being one of the more repeated stories in Hollywood, I don't know just how excited people are going to be with the release of this film. The Russell Crowe version came out almost a decade ago, yet it still feels like it hadn't been too long ago.

Who knows, maybe Robin Hood will actually make some bank in the box office, but with Guy Ritchie's King Arthur failing and being of the same genre, I have a feeling this film is on its way to be another flop—even if the movie turns out good.

Robin Hood is set to release on Nov. 21.
