T.J. Miller on Reprising Role for Deadpool 2 and Possible Weasel Spin-off Movies

Because of Deadpool's massive success at the box office since its release in February, it's no surprise that 20th Century Fox is banking in on the franchise with further Deadpool movies. Deadpool 2 is now in the works and there have been talks of a crossover between the Merc with the Mouth and the X-Force.

Apparently, the studio is also thinking about making a spin-off about T.J. Miller's character, Weasel.

In a recent interview with Cinema Blend, the 34-year-old comedian talked about his future with Deadpool and the X-Men franchise in general.

Well, it looks like we'll be seeing more of his character in the future. As Miller said:

Deadpoolis not going anywhere anytime soon. I think there's probably going to be three more installments, a Weasel spin off. I'm contractually obliged to do the cameos in other X-Men universe stuff, so there's plenty more Deadpool to come.
I'm excited about the prospect of a Weasel spin-off, because he makes this super suit, that's not great and it's a superhero in Las Vegas protects casinos. I mean, it just, everything about it is perfect for me… What if the Iron Man suit was sort of budget, like he can't fly, but he can hover three or four feet.

You might wonder what kind of storyline for Weasel would interest Deadpool audiences. As noted by the site, Miller was actually referencing a Deadpool comics by Daniel Way where Miller's character becomes a "superhero" named The House, who fights crime in Las Vegas:

Based on Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds, it's expected that the Weasel spin-off would be as faithful to the comics as Deadpool had been, comprising a lot of comedy and action at the same time.

Right now, the Weasel spin-off remains unclear, but it would be interesting to see where screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will take this new breed of humorous superhero films in the future. It would also be exciting to see how Deadpool's marketing team will promote a Weasel movie.
