Strangers Things 2’s Billy Compared To The Shining’s Jack Torrance

The second season to Stranger Things is making its big debut this week, and Netflix has been busy reminding fans to make the trip back to the Upside Down with a new batch of promo videos and interviews.

Not only is the series bringing back Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), but it's also bringing in new faces like Dacre Montgomery's.

The young actor made it to the big screen, playing the Red Ranger in this year's Power Rangers live-action movie, and now it seems like the Australian star is playing Billy in Stranger Things.

Speaking in an interview with Screen Rant, Montgomery decided to describe Billy as a bit of an antagonist in the Duffer Brother's popular ode-to-the-eighties series, going as far as to compare the character with Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) in The Shining.

"He's a bit of an antagonist to be honest. The reference from these boys over here – the Duffer Brothers – was kind of like Jack Nicholson in The Shining. Somebody with an unpredictable nature. Somebody who sort of unnerves the audience. A bit of spice placed in this amazing recipe that has been so tasty and has been so successful. He blows through town. He comes from out of town from California. He ruffles a few feathers and I think that sums him up without giving too much away."

Sounds like we'll be getting a bully like IT's Henry Bowers this year. We wonder whether Billy's going to change throughout the course of the series, or whether he's going to be a menace to Mike and the team.

Stranger Things' second season hits cinemas on October 27, 2017.
