Stranger Things Introduces New Characters for Season 2

Fans will see three new additions to Stranger Things once it opens for its second run.

Hot on the heels of the announcement for its renewed season, executive producer Shawn Levy confirmed with The Hollywood Reporter that there will be three newcomers joining the cast of the show.

"There's definitely a handful of really compelling new characters this season, but absolutely servicing the core group first and foremost. Like the show itself, it's multigenerational new characters and really, really intriguing ones."

Some new information about the three new additions have been released. These are the two step-siblings and one potential series regular. Max is a 13-year-old female who acts very boyish for her time, as evidenced by her skateboarding around town. Her past has its patches, particularly with her difficult relationship with her stepbrother Billy.

Billy is the overconfident older 17-year-old stepbrother to Max. His character description has a very stereotypical bad boy vibe—getting rumors about killing someone in his old school, stealing others' girlfriends, drinking so much to become a pro.

Finally, there's Roman, who the show's creators are open to the character being male or female. Roman's age range is somewhere in her early to late 30s. Roman's past isn't any better—growing up homeless with an addict mother, experiencing loss early on, and seeking revenge as the total outsider.

Stranger Things second season will kick off where the first season ended. It will continue the adventure, focusing on the fact that the supernatural forces that will be at play once the new season begins.

Stranger Things season 2 will be out on Netflix sometime in 2017.
