Steamroller Destroys Terry Pratchett's Unfinished Works

The late Terry Pratchett's unfinished works have been destroyed by a streamroller - at his specific request.

The English author best known for his Discworld series was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2007, but he continued to write, with assistance from other writers, until his death in 2015. Pratchett made a specific request that anything he was working on at the time of his death should be "put in the middle of the road . . . and [for] a steamroller to steamroll over them all".

As The Guardian reports, Rob Wilkins, Pratchett's friend and manager of the Pratchett estate, tweeted a couple of images in which he said he was "about to fulfil [his] obligation to Terry". One of the photos shows him holding a hard drive on which Pratchett's works were saved, and another (below) of the broken remains of the streamrolled hardware.

This is a fitting tribute to Pratchett's humor that he's known for. The Salisbury Museum will display the remains of the hard drive, and it'll be holding an exhibition celebrating Pratchett's life and work, called Terry Pratchett: HisWorld, on September 16 to January 13, 2018.
