Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Laura Dern Worship’s Rian Johnson’s Work On Movie

In a few weeks time Star Wars Celebration is going to open in Orlando and fans are finally going to get that highly anticipated preview of this year's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. While everyone holds their breath and waits for that trailer to come rolling off the screen, Last Jedi star Laura Dern decides to talk about the film and director Rian Johnson's filmmaking style.

In an interview with Collider where Dern discusses her upcoming film Wilson, the Academy Award nominee confirms that The Last Jedi will bear both history and spectacle in equal parts, praising Johnson's work on The Last Jedi.

"I worship him," Dern gushes. Oh, he's the guy. He's the guy to watch."

"To me, I've never seen anything like it. Comfort on an enormous movie, improvisation, "Try that, try that!" There's a lot of people weighing in on creating character and looks, and things are so iconic, and sets, and he's still in the world of character. "How do you feel? What do you think? How do you want it?" I mean, to everybody. But he's just amazing, and he'll do radically beautiful things, and I also feel like he's one of the people I'll work with again and again, because we just loved each other. We had dinner recently and he was telling me an idea that was just so crazy and indie and I just love that's he's a radical."

Johnson used to work on indie films like the 2012 science fiction thriller Looper and the 2008 Brothers Bloom and The Last Jedi will be his first try at working on a Star Wars film. It's good to hear that Johnson's doing well on the second Star Wars saga installment and that he's bringing in something new to the franchise.

Star Wars The Last Jedi is scheduled for release on Dec. 15, 2017.
