Star Wars The Last Jedi: Watch the First 12 Minutes of the Documentary The Director and The Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits digital today, and with the home release comes over 2 hours of bonus content, including a feature-length documentary called The Director and The Jedi. Thanks to IMDb, we have a 12-minute sneak peek of the movie.

Here's the official synopsis:

An intimate documentary delving into Rian Johnson's process as he comes in as a director new to the Star Wars universe. A fan since childhood, he sets out to make the most powerful Star Wars movie he can. Navigating the mammoth production, the scale of which he's never directed before, we meet his cast and crew, see their individual challenges in bringing the film together, say goodbye to Carrie Fisher, and explore the significance of Rian's more surprising decisions.

The documentary gives you a view of what it really was like to make "The Last Jedi". As the team strive to do their best, what shines through is their passion and how memorable an experience it is for Rian as director.

Coming out as one of the most successful movies of 2017, Star Wars: The Last Jedi marked another milestone for Lucasfilm, and though a lot of haters can be found online, there is a larger, more unspoken crowd of supporters who absolutely loved Johnson's installment in the franchise.

Though I'm personally bummed that Johnson isn't directing the last movie in the sequel trilogy, I am looking forward to seeing his own separate Star Wars trilogy. Sure, I'm worried about deviating from the main story of the Skywalkers and the Empire, but hopefully Johnson has a fantastic story that a new generation of fans will grow to love.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now available on digital, and will hit Blu-Ray/DVD on March 27.
