Star Wars The Last Jedi: The Resistance Has Its Own Version Of A Star Destroyer, And It’s Named After A Character In Rogue One

Though the First Order is usually the ones who have most of the ships and numbers, the Resistance has its own ragtag collection of fighters, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi will introduce us to one massive ship in the Resistance fleet which is said to be twice the size of the Mon Calamari ships from Return of the Jedi. Check out the Raddus:

To those who still remember, Admiral Raddus was a Mon Calamari who participated in the Battle of Scarif back in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and he likely gave his life just to give the Rebels their first taste of victory against the Empire. It's only fitting one of the largest ships of the fleet would be named after one of the first heroes of the Rebellion.

Moving forward, I'm actually eager to see future movies reference new canon material in the Star Wars world. The Raddus is already a sure acknowledgement of Rogue One, but some fans are close to certain that The Last Jedi will also have us revisiting Darth Vader's castle on Mustafar. There's also some that believe that Maz Kanata will also be making an appearance in the upcoming Han Solo film.

With the Rebels usually the side with the shorter end of the stick, it's actually pretty cool to see them commandeering their own massive cruiser. Who says Imperials are the only ones who can have big toys?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out Dec. 15.
