Star Wars: The Last Jedi Leads With The Most Nominations At Empire Awards

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might be the most divisive film in the Star Wars franchise, but it seems like Lucasfilm's newest sequel trilogy installment is racking up nominations at Empire Magazine's 2018 Empire Awards.

The Force Awakens sequel has just received nine nominations from the Empire Awards, dominating Empire Magazine's annual British awards ceremony honoring the cinematic achievements of both local and global films. Not only did The Last Jedi receive nods for Best Visual Effects, Best, Production design, and Best Costume design, it also got a nomination for the most coveted "Best Film" award.

Daisy Ridley was also nominated for Best Actress, while John Boyega was tapped for Best Actor. Kelly Marie Tran who played the Resistance Member, Rose, also got a nomination for Best Female Newcomer.

Though it isn't a certainty that these nominations will lead to wins, it's great to see The Last Jedi earning quite a number of nods at the Empire Awards. Its nominations for Best Visual Effects, Costume Design, and Production Design allow The Last Jedi compete against Marvel films like Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

The film's nominations for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Best Film also allows The Last Jedi to compete with other great movies like Wonder Woman,Call Me By Your Name, Get Out and Ragnarok.

Hopefully fans continue to vote for The Last Jedi to win at Empire Magazine's Empire Awards.
