Star Wars: The Last Jedi Director Shares His Favorite Moments In The Film

There were a lot of great scenes in Star Wars: The Last Jedi that writer/director Rhian Johnson was excited to present to audiences before the film's premiere.

Sitting down to speak with The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson spoke about what it felt like watching the sequel trilogy installment for the very first time with a public audience. The director went on to discuss the moments that he was looking forward to the most at the film's premiere, starting with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey's (Daisy Ridley) big sequence in Snoke's throne room.

"That was a big moment I was looking forward to. But that was also a moment where the deck is pretty stacked. I wasn't holding my breath, 'Is this going to play?' I felt like, 'I can't wait to see an audience reaction to this.' I was pretty confident in that moment."

The filmmaker was more worried about Admiral Holdo's big moment, driving the Resistance cruiser through The Supremacy at hyperspeed to save the Resistance.

"The [sacrifice] moment with Holdo was something I was holding my breath to see how the audience reacted, and I could not have been more thrilled with how the theater reacted to that big moment. And honestly, Kelly's final little moment with John, and then she passes out. There were so many moments I was holding my breath to see how the audience was going to react to it. Because this was the first time I was seeing it with an audience. I can't wait for opening night with a big crowd."

The Last Jedi certainly had quite a number of great moments, and though some fans felt a bit outraged by how the film subverted expectations, the moments really did resonate with most audiences.
