Star Wars: The Last Jedi Confirmed To Be The Longest Star Wars Film

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in a few weeks, and although not much has been revealed about the film's plot, we do know how long it will be, and it turns out that it will be the longest film in the franchise yet.

The confirmation comes from director Rian Johnson, who revealed that the film will have a running time of 150 minutes (2-and-a-half hours). The Revenge of the Sith, which runs for 140 minutes, was previously the longest Star Wars film. Johnson shared the info during the press conference in Paris, and according to IGN France, the director also said that Rogue One director Gareth Edwards would have a cameo in The Last Jedi.

However, Johnson didn't comment on the rumor that Prince William has a cameo as a stormtrooper. He compared working on The Last Jedi to his previous independent films. "Disney gave us a real freedom in writing," he said. "It was something very organic. For me, it was like when I worked on my old movies."

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to release in theaters on December 15, 2017.
