Star Wars: The Last Jedi Bonus Featurette Explores Leia’s Showdown With Kylo Ren

The release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Digital HD's brought a lot of different treats for the Star Wars community. Not only do fans get a slew of deleted scenes, they also get an inside look at pivotal moments in The Force Awakens sequel, including the tense showdown between Leia (Carrie Fisher) and her estranged son, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

The featurette "Lighting the Spark: Creating the Space Battle" which is one of the bonus material included The Last Jedi's home release offers fans a tour of the production behind the showdowns between the First Order and the Resistance.

In the video, director Rian Johnson talks about how the battle that happens at the beginning of the film affects the Resistance, especially General Organa.

"Leia's whole thing in this movie," Johnson explained. "And realizing, for me, her character has been defined from the very first film by loss. It's hard for her to see the romance of 'Oh, we took out the big ship.' You see that finally starting to get to her."

The director also talks about Kylo Ren's talent as a pilot and his showdown with his mother.

"Ok, you're a great pilot, you're a bad ass pilot, you're blowing everything up," the filmmaker said. "But then of course, instantly having him butt up against that moment with Leia — Now you have your mother in your sights. What are you going to do now?"

It's a pretty interesting featurette, one which fans can explore by purchasing Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Digital HD.
