Star Wars: The Force Awakens Editor Revealed What Was Cut From Rey's Vision

One of the most talked about scenes in Star Wars: The Force Awakens is Rey's Force vision that she experienced after touching Luke's lightsaber in the basement of Maz Kanata's castle in Takodana. The sequence, often referred to as "the Force-back", has had fans wondering the true meaning of the images seen in the vision. While we hopefully wait for answers to unfold in Episodes VIII an IX, it turns out there was originally more to the sequence than what we've seen in the final cut.

During a presentation for the University of Califorina Television, The Force Awakens editor Maryann Brandon talked about what was cut from that enigmatic sequence. She said:

"She went into this room and then it became the room in Cloud City, which you can still kind of see because we still kept that idea, but then she used to walk down the hall and she saw Darth Vader and Luke fighting. And she saw Darth Vader cut Luke's hand off. Then she turned around and saw Snoke, or some version of Snoke, vague version of him and a little boy. So all those images we had, they just didn't have a logic that satisfied anyone enough."

The Vader part wasn't surprising since it was described in the books, but the Snoke part is new. The boy with Snoke is most likely Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, but this version sounds like it implied that Kylo Ren turned to the Dark Side when he was even younger. However, thenovel Star Wars: Bloodline showed that Kylo didn't fall until he's already a young adult, so this image is inconsistent to the film.
