Marvel has announced a comic book adaptation for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, easily the most controversial installment in the franchise. This isn't a huge surprise to fans since the company has already released comic book versions of The Force Awakens and Rogue One. What might interest fans is the writer Gary Whitta, who worked co-wrote Rogue One.
Whitta will be working with artists Michael Walsh and Mike Spicer. This is a pretty solid team to illustrate Rian Johnson's film, with Walsh, in particular, partaking in a number of Marvel projects. He has worked on Ales Kot's Secret Avengers and recently drew a one-shot issue of Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Since the novelization has a few different scenes, not in the film, it would be neat seeing them in the comic book version. Marvel told IGN that the comic book would have new scenes not in the movie, so that should be fun to see. Granted, it might not win over fans who hate the movie - and there are a lot of those - but it could be a good adaptation. Here is hoping that Whitta uses the comic book medium to make the story feel different.

The first two issues for Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out this May, with issue #1 coming out on May 2.
