One of the things fan expect to see in Star Wars: The Last Jedi is an opening crawl. Each film in the Skywalker saga has featured a text-filled opening that provides essential background information, and of course, Episode VIII will have one. Over the weekend at Star Wars Celebration Orlando, Rian Johnson revealed how long the opening crawl for The Last Jedi is going to be.
During an interview with MTV, Rian Johnson revealed that the opening crawl will be quite large. The Last Jedi will begin exactly where The Force Awakens left off, but apparently, there's still a good amount of exposition needed to be addressed before the first scene kicks off.
"Even if it picks up right where the last one left off, there's still a lot of unanswered questions about what the state of everything is, we were able to fill three paragraphs," Johnson said.
Last Jedi's opening crawl would most likely mention the brief details about the conflict between the Resistance and First Order following the battle at Starkiller Base. Perhaps we'll get a few hints about what Supreme Leader Snoke and Kylo Ren are up to, but the opening will most likely trigger more questions than answers to entice viewers to see the whole thing.
Directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to release in theaters on December 15, 2017. The film also features returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong'o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher. Benicio Del Toro, and Kelly Marie Tran and Laura Dern make their Star Wars debut in this film.
