Star Wars: Rey Actually Wields A Different Lightsaber In The Last Jedi

We've all seen Rey holding a blue lightsaber in the teaser for Star Wars The Last Jedi, but what we didn't know was that it isn't Anakin Skywalker's original lightsaber. Thanks to some new images from Star Wars Battlefront II, we can confirm that Rey will actually be wielding another lightsaber in the movie.

REYS NEW LIGHTSABER

If you look at the stats on the right, the Rey wearing the Force Awakens garb is holding the original Skywalker lightsaber like in the movie. Rey in her Ach-To garb, however, is holding a model that's very similar to the design of Luke's from Return of the Jedi.

Of course, it's very possible that this was just some fluke, and the developers will replace it in an update, but what are the odds that Luke will make Rey construct her own lightsaber for her training? Pretty damn high, I tell you.

For one, Rey has to form a bond with the Kyber crystal that she puts in her lightsaber, and it won't make sense that she would continue to use Anakin's. Even if Luke did use it in Empire, he still lost that fight, and he had to construct his own weapon.

This could open the door for multiple possibilities on Rey's fighting style. Does she dual wield lightsabers when she fights? Does she connect this one to Anakin's and it forms a double-bladed saber? Is it a shorter blade like Ahsoka's? I'm pretty sure her use of the staff in the first movie is a teaser for holding a dual-bladed weapon in the future.

Then again, I could be wrong.

Star Wars Battlefront II comes out Nov. 17, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters Dec. 15.
