Star Wars Memorabilia in England Worth Thousands of Pounds Stolen

A property in the English town of Dewsbury has been ransacked and apparently, the robbers know how much a Star Wars set costs nowadays.

According to the West Yorkshire Police, the robbery took place in Moor Park Garden between Sunday, April 10 and Tuesday, April 19 while the owners of the property were away. While the robbers took a large number of items, the biggest loot they had were of specialist Star Wars memorabilia collected by the owner over a number of years.

The Star Wars items include "village sets, vehicles, characters and main ships with fighter figures inside, along with around 300 character figurines." What's more disturbing is that most of the pieces taken are from series one and two, those of which are also even in new boxes.

One piece stolen that's especially noted by the authorities is a Darth Vader model, which costs a ton of money and hard work.

Dewsbury detectives are now appealing the public for any information they might know that could help in catching the culprits.

In a statement, PC Simon Reddington from Kirklees CID said:

Due to the vast number of items taken, a large vehicle will most likely have been used by those responsible and I would appeal to anyone who was in and around the area during the period in which the burglary occurred and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward.
The items stolen are clearly of considerable sentimental and financial value to the victim who has collected the memorabilia over a number of years. I would appeal to anyone who has seen these items for sale, either online or locally, or who has been invited to buy them to come speak to the police. Enquiries are ongoing.

We certainly feel for this person who lost his/her Star Wars memorabilia. Collecting anything isn't just about the money. It requires effort and hard work and one can't help but be attached to these objects. We hope the robbers will be caught.

May the Force be with the owners of the Star Wars collectibles.

If you have any information related to the matter, you can call PC Simon Reddington at Kirklees CID via 101, or contact the independent crime fighting charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
