Star Wars: Mark Hamill Loves The Last Jedi's Ending

Mark Hamill has made a lot of comments about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, most of them good and some bad. The actor has made it clear that he thinks the film is a good one, even if he did not initially agree with the direction Rian Johnson had for Luke Skywalker, the character that he portrayed for a number of years.

One thing he did seem to like was the film's ending. Cynics would joke about that being the best part since it meant that the film was over but Hamill genuinely liked it for the message it sent.

While in an interview with GamesRadar, Hamill revealed that he loved how the ending of The Last Jedi implied that Rey won't ever be the final user of the Force. It's hard to blame him since it's a genuinely cool scene that embraces the central theme of the movie; you can be special, no matter where you come from or what your background is.

Here's the full statement:

"What I love particularly was – and they didn't have to do this because the movie's over – all of a sudden you cut to the stable and there's that little boy, he puts out his hand and the broom comes to him. It's so subtle, the first time I saw it I thought he just took it, but if you look he puts his hand out and it moves over for him, implying that yeah, she's [Rey's] the last Jedi… until the next Jedi. It'll go on forever, believe me. Long after both of us are gone they'll be making these films from here into eternity."

One reason why the ending is so good is how it connects to the reveal of Rey's parents. Fans were hoping that she would be a Kenobi, or a Skywalker, maybe even a Palpatine. The fact that her parents weren't special and she still had the force showed that anyone can rise from their initial circumstances to become better, which the broom boy at the end proved.
