Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill Supports Kelly Marie Tran After She Addresses Fan Harassment

Earlier today, Star Wars: The Last Jedi actress Kelly Marie Tran decided to open up about the bullying that she's received from the Star Wars fanbase.

Second to director Rian Johnson, Tran has been the target of attacks from angry and toxic fans who didn't quite enjoy the sequel to The Force Awakens, and a few months ago the Star Wars actress decided to delete her posts on Instagram after receiving more sexist and racist attacks from fans.

Now, after speaking with The New York Times about her difficult experience with the fanbase, Star Wars legend has decided to come to Trans' side, posting on Twitter an article about The Last Jedi actress' editorial with The New York Times.

Taking note of a portion where Tran says that she'd begin embracing her real first name, "Loan," Hamill put in a caption that read "I said it before and I'll say it again: What's not to love? I love you Loan...we don't deserve you and you are just getting started."

Hamill's always been supportive of The Last Jedi cast and the Star Wars legend has always expressed a certain fondness for Tran, constantly speaking up and defending her against toxic fanboys that go out of their way to make sexist and racist remarks against the actress.

While we understand that not everyone will like a movie, or a character in a film, there have been Star Wars fans who instead of giving objective criticisms, have gone as far as to directly insult and attack and actors and actresses just because of the color of their skin or because of their gender. The Star Wars fanbase is in a sad state with so many expressing racist and sexist remarks, but we're definitely hoping that things will change for the better.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
