Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill Pays Tribute To Kenny Baker, aka R2-D2

Mark Hamill has paid tribute to actor Kenny Baker, who died Saturday at age of 81.

Since A New Hope hit theaters in May 1977, the R2-D2 actor and Hamill have been comrades in arms in the Star Wars franchise. Baker played the droid in the original trilogy and the prequels. He was also a droid consultant on The Force Awakens.

"Goodbye #KennyBaker," he tweeted with photos of them together. "A lifelong loyal friend-I loved his optimism & determination He WAS the droid I was looking for!" Hamill also retweed photos posted to social media of Baker from Time Bandits and with Star Wars castmate Carrie Fisher.
