Star Wars Han Solo Spin-Off Narrows List of Actors

After 2,500 reportedly auditioned for the role of the young Han Solo in the upcoming spin-off film, Disney and Lucasfilm have narrowed down the selection to about 12 actors.

According to Variety, the contenders include Miles Teller (above left), Ansel Elgort (above right), Dave Franco (above center), Transformers: Age of Extinction's Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Brooklyn's Emory Cohen, and Everybody Wants Some'sBlake Jenner.

The standalone film will be directed by The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and they won't start shooting until next year (January 2017), so why are they trying to decide soon? Probably because Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which only has a month left of filming before principal photography, will include a cameo of the young Han Solo.

The Han Solo origin Star Wars Story film will be released in theaters on May 25, 2018.
