Star Wars: Forces of Destiny Will Showcase New Canon Stories


The ladies of the Star Wars universe will be under the spotlight in Disney's new storytelling series, Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.

The new effort from Disney and Lucasfilm are preparing eight 2-D animated shorts that will feature the following women of Star Wars: Princess Leia, Padme Amidala, Rey, Jyn Erso, and Star Wars Rebels' Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla ,and Sabine Wren.

The clip below gives us a quick view of the creators' plans, as well as a look at some concept art for the animated shorts. The goal of the Star Wars: Forces of Destiny is to flesh out their stories—and yes, all of them will be official canon.

"With Forces of Destiny, there was an opportunity to tell some additional stories around these terrific characters from throughout the franchise. Forces of Destiny, they're these almost bite-size, short, self-contained adventures that take place in different time periods."

A lot of the voice actresses will return for their parts. As a bonus, actresses Daisy Ridley and Felicity Jones will bring their respective characters to life as well. Even so, don't expect any sneak peeks for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, since Rey's story arc will only cover as far as The Force Awakens.
