Star Wars: Episode IX Is Returning To The Original Filming Location For Yavin IV

It looks like Star Wars: Episode IX might be returning to a familiar location.

Star Wars News Net just recently got word from English historian Trevor Monk that the third and final installment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy is going to shoot a few scenes in Bedfordshire Cardington Airship Beds in the U.K.

For those who don't know, the Cardington Airship Sheds in the U.K. was used for the filming of the Rebel base on Yavin IV both in Star Wars: A New Hope and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Though we're not quite sure what Episode IX might do with the set, it'd be interesting to see a return to the Rebel base. That'd definitely bring the franchise to some sort of circle.

It'd also make perfect sense for the Resistance to make its new home in Yavin IV. After seeing their first base in Star Wars: The Force Awakens being obliterated in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the remaining members of the Resistance would need a new base to man its operations as the organization continues its protest against the First Order. Yavin IV would definitely be a great spot to recruit new members.

Of course, the film could go differently. There's no knowing what Lucasfilm might build on the location and what kind of set they might create. Let's just wait and see what happens.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
