Star Wars Documentary Already Set for a Sequel

It seems that the crowdfunded documentary from Jon Spira, Elstree 1976, which follows the lives of the supporting artists in the Star Wars movies was a success.

BBC has just confirmed that the sequel to the documentary is now on its way. The new focus of the sequel would be the stunt team from Star Wars: The Empire Strike Back. All that we know from the project is that it will start filming during the summer in the hopes of finishing it in time for release sometime next year.

Dubbed Elstree 1979, the Star Wars documentary sequel will be produced by Works Film Group. Elstree 1979 will be all about the stuntmen Colin Skeaping and Vic Armstrong and their contributions to the film. According to the report, the documentary sequel will look into the climactic scene with Luke Skywalker going through the window while in a fight.

"Where '76 dealt with the supporting artists of A New Hope, this film will look at the stunt team from Empire Strikes Back. Wider than that, we will tell the story of that generation of British stunt performers. We can't wait to start shooting it."

Unlike the first documentary, however, there is no word yet on whether it will run a second Kickstarter campaign to create the project. The first had been successful in its own right given that it had raised over £40,000.

We expect to hear more details about the project as they develop.
