Star Wars Comic Might Be Teasing Leia's Episode IX Fate

The recent arc of Marvel’s Poe Dameron comic book has been interesting, as it not only gives us a glimpse of the post-Last Jedi status quo but is also detailing what the Resistance’s best pilot was doing during The Force Awakens. Fans might want to pick up this week’s issue, as it might have planted seeds for Leia Organa’s fate in Star Wars Episode IX.

In Poe Dameron #27, a noticeably weak Leia has started getting visions of past events in the Millenium Falcon. She barely survived her floating in space, which leads to the controversial scene that had her using the Force to save herself, which was a make it or break it moment for many.

Leia actually acknowledges that in the comic, telling Poe, Rey, and Finn that she needs to rest and is not at 100% yet. Furthermore, she later has a conversation with Poe and points out how she might not be able to lead the Resistance forever.

After Carrie Fisher, unfortunately, passed away last year, fans were surprised to see her character live in The Last Jedi. This is because she had finished filming all of her scenes and they had already done too much and could not alter the story. It seems like the Poe Dameron comic might be setting up the eventual passing of Leia’s character and a possible time skip for Episode IX.

Star Wars Episode IX will hit theaters on December 20, 2019.
