Star Wars Comic Gives Us A Look At Young Mace Windu

Though Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu has been pretty standard for its first couple of issues, a lot of people will be interested to know that the third issue will tackle the origin story of Samuel L. Jackson's fan-favorite Jedi Master.

The issue not only introduces us to a young Mace, but to his Jedi master Cyslin Myr as well, who looks to be a Mirialan, the same species as Master Luminara Unduli.

The issue gives us an insight on Windu's "fire" for battle, and gives us a small nod to his eventual fight with Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith. Windu is commonly known as a hot-head in the canon, and though Jedi are supposed to be in agents of piece, Windu is still known to be one badass fighter.

The most striking thing about the issue will probably be Windu's look when he was a young Padawan. I love his do, and it perfectly explains how Windu could have had a Jedi braid. In the canon, if a Padawan didn't have hair to braid, they would have been able to use beads instead. I have no idea why I thought Mace had been bald the entire time.

That, or maybe he sported an afro a la Pulp Fiction.
