Star Wars: Boba Fett Film Was Going to Be Based on The Last One Standing

After Solo: A Star Wars Story failed to break the box office bank, rumors stated that any upcoming Star Wars spin-offs would be put on hold. While it's easy to understand why Disney would do this, fans are disappointed about it since solo (haha) projects for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett were supposedly planned, the latter of which would have had Logan director James Mangold.

To make things worse, Star Wars Legends writer Daniel Keys just revealed that the Boba Fett film could have been based on his story The Last One Standing: The Tale of Boba Fett.

Speaking with Star Wars Interviews, Keys said that someone at Disney emailed him about adapting The Last One Standing into a movie, which the writer appreciated since the company could have made it without his permission. For those unaware, it was a short story that detailed Boba's various adventures in the past and future, whilst also revealing his origin.

"I've had a guy at Disney email me a couple times over the years regarding Lucasfilm adapting "Last One Standing" into a Fett movie. Not asking permission, they own those works, just letting me know they were thinking about it. So that was kind. But after Solo stiffed, apparently there's some question about the Fett movie being made."

Considering how many fans love that story, it is a shame that it could be put on hold after the failure of Solo. Whether Keys is speaking the truth or not, having a Boba Fett film from James Mangold would have been awesome.
