Star Trek: Discovery's launch date on CBS All Access, which was supposed to happen this May, has been postponed, with the network not giving:a definite month for its release.

What it did say are the reasons for the decision that will leave fans, who had been waiting for the show, out in the cold once more.Star Trek: Discovery had originally been slated for a January 2017 release. This had been pushed to May, a launch date that had just been changed.

CBS Television Studios' recently released statement in The Hollywood Reporter emphasized that it wanted more time for planning which will ensure the show's high quality:

"Production on Star Trek: Discovery begins next week. We love the cast, the scripts and are excited about the world the producers have created. his is an ambitious project; we will be flexible on a launch date if it's best for the show. We've said from the beginning it's more important to do this right than to do it fast. There is also added flexibility presenting on CBS All Access, which isn't beholden to seasonal premieres or launch windows."

In the meantime, tantalizing developments keep the fans' hopes up. The most recent is casting Gotham'sJames Frain as Spock's father, Ambassador Sarek.
