Star Trek: Discovery Releases New Poster And Images

The next Star Trek series will actually be a prequel, and it will take place 10 years before the timeline of the original series. Star Trek: Discovery had just released a new trailer, and now we have some more images from the series as well as a cool new poster.

For one we get a better look at Michelle Yeoh's Captain Heorgiou and Sonequa Martin-Green's Officer Burnham. Plus, we get to see Doug Jones as a new alien species and Chris Obi playing a very different-looking Klingon. There's also a better look at the desert planet that we got to see from the trailer.

I especially love how the poster looks. If anything, this series looks like it could be a prequel for the updated 2009 Star Trek timeline. Did you know that the Vulcan talking in the trailer is supposed to be Spock's father, Sarek? Also, the CGI on this show looks absolutely spectacular. A lot of people know how cheap CGI could look in a sci-fi series, but this show — well, the trailer at least — manages to pull it off.

Star Trek: Discovery plans to usher in a new generation of Trekkies while at the same time try to satisfy long-time fans of the franchise. I, for one, am pumped. Hopefully this series comes out on Netflix.

Star Trek: Discovery airs this coming fall on CBS.
