Star Trek: Discovery Premiere Brings 10 Million Viewers and Record Sign-Ups For CBS All Access


Star Trek: Discovery, the first Star Trek series since Star Trek: Enterprise that wrapped in 2015, premired on Sunday night on CBS and has, according to the network, led to the highest sign-ups for CBS All Access, the streaming service that will be the exclusive home for the show.

CBS says that Discovery's premiere broke a new record for subscriber sign-ups in a single day. The launch of the new series also helped the network achieve its highest sign-up week and month ever for its streaming service. According to CBS, the show was viewed by approxiately 9.6 million people.

CBS Research expects Star Trek: Discovery to have more than 15 million viewers with seven-day delayed viewing. This looks like a promising start for the sci-fi series, and I'm excited to see how the franchise will evolve from here.

The first two episodes of Star Trek: Discovery are now available to stream on CBS All Access, and new episodes will be available on demand weekly after 8:30 PM ET on Sundays.
