Star Trek Beyond To Get A Limited Three-Screen Barco Escape Format Release


It looks like Star Trek Beyond is going beyond your typical theatrical experience that only a few movies have been before. The new format is a three-screen system that surrounds the audience to full immerse the audience in a panaromic film experience.

Paramount Pictures and Barco Escape are bringing Justin Lin's Star Trek Beyond in the new format in a limited amount of theaters around the country. According to the press release, 20 minutes of Star Trek Beyond footage that will be adapted in this format.

J.J. Abrams has a statement about the film using the new format:

Justin Lin's Star Trek Beyond is an epic adventure — truly larger than life. It is especially fitting, then, that we are partnering with Barco to provide an ultra wide-screen immersive experience using their unique Barco Escape format. This premium format dramatically expands the width of the viewing plane, giving filmmakers an innovative new tool with which to tell stories and audiences an enhanced new way to experience cinema.
