Star Trek 4 Will Reportedly Start Filming in Early 2019

After an uncertain future after Star Trek Beyond disappointed Paramount Pictures in the box office, it looks like we're finally getting Star Trek 4. The announcement of Defenders director S.J. Clarkson was a pleasant surprise, as is the news that we could be getting a female villain, with Black Panther'sDanai Gurira showing interest in the role.

If that's not enough, That Hashtag Show has reported a possible 2019 production date for the film. This would imply a 2020 release for the next Star Trek movie, which wouldn't be too bad when you consider the blockbusters coming out in 2019 alone. Having major changes and more star power isn't a bad thing either.

Reports have also claimed that this movie would reunite Captain Kirk with his father, who was played by Chris Hemsworth before his Thor days. Considering how much his star has grown since the first Star Trek reboot installment, it will be interesting to see how fans react to this if true. Plus, seeing Chris Pine and Hemsworth in the same movie would be fun for fans of both actors.

The franchise seemed like it would sleep for a while until the most recent show, Star Trek Discovery, started getting people's attention. There was also news that Quentin Tarantino would work on a Star Trek movie but that story hasn't had too many follow-ups.

No release date for Star Trek 4 has been announced. Hopefully, we get one soon.
