Stan Lee’s Cameo In Teen Titans Go! To The Movies Almost Didn’t Happen

A few days before Teen Titans Go! To The Movies finally made its big premeire in cinemas, word came out that Marvel comic book legend Stan Lee actually had a cameo in Warner Brothers' animated superhero movie. The news came as quite a surprise to both DC and Marvel fans – no one really expected Marvel's cameo king to make an appearance in a DC movie.

However, according to Teen Titans Go! To The Movies co-director Peter Rida Michael, Lee using his voice to play the part of the Distinguished Competition almost never came to be. Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Michael along with his co-director Aaron Horvath revealed that the cameo was so close to getting cancelled because of technical issues.

"It was awesome, dude! We got to go to [Stan's] office, and Aaron voice-directed him. He was just up for everything," Michael told the publication.

"He was very nice and very welcoming and super patient with us," Horvath went on. "Our audio engineer, his equipment broke broke, and I've never seen a person's face turn so red or get so sweaty so fast. He was trying to fix the board and he couldn't fix it. So we ended up having to record Stan on like a laptop. Our engineer was just so ashamed of himself."

Still, despite all the issues with the equipment, Lee pushed through with the session with Michael nothing how the comic book legend "was just busting his balls the whole time. He was awesome, man."

It's definitely a pleasant surprising finding Lee in Teen Titans Go! To The Movies. His appearance in the DC animated movie signifies the comic book writer's prominence, not just as a Marvel Icon, but as the face of the superhero genre.

Teen Titans! Go To The Movies is currently screening in cinemas.
