Developer Insomniac Games confirmed two things about its upcoming Spider-Man game for the PS4.
The first is that there will be alternate outfits for the web-slinger. The developer has taken to Twitter to answer a few questions from fans. One had asked if there will be an alternate look for Spider-Man.
Insomniac Games did confirm that there will be. The question isn't all just about extra cosmetics, because for those who have seen the released footages, Spidey's look isn't exactly conventional. Apart from the very large emblem on his chest, it's actually emblazoned in a screaming white color. So I guess to an extent, it is understandable for fans to be curious if there is a chance to switch Spidey's look to a more familiar one.
The other question that Insomniac Games' Bryan Intihar answered (via The Verge) is whether players can actually kill off some of the villains and goons in the game. After all, there will be casualties in any fighting game, even one involving a superhero sworn to do good.
However, Intihar revealed that indeed, there is no way that players can use Spidey's web-slinging capabilities to bad use.
"We wouldn't allow that. Marvel would not allow that, the world would not allow that."
While the mechanics of preventing incidental or accidental deaths in the Spider-Man game, the report caught a clip that seemed to demonstrate this to a degree. Even when fighting near a ledge or a tall building, even if Spidey goes so far as to fling the goon from the building, it's possible that his web-slinging habits will kick in via AI and stop the fall.
Insomniac Games' Spider-Man will be out sometime next year.
