Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Actor Gave up On Solo When Lord And Miller Were Fired

Jake Johnson has nothing but love for former Solo: A Star Wars Story directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller after working on Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

The New Girl actor who lent his voice to Into the Spider-Verse's version of Peter Parker recently went on an interview with Screen Rant to help promote his upcoming film Tag. During his discussion with the entertainment news outlet, Johnson openly praised Lord and Miller's work on the upcoming Sony animated movie.

Not only did Johnson say that he enjoyed his time with the producers of Spider-Man: Into the Universe, he also takes the filmmaker's side saying that he won't be seeing Solo after Lucasfilm decided to can the directors.

"The trailer. And there's a lot of very talented people involved in it. But the fact that Chris Miller and Phil Lord are part of the heart of that, I don't think you're going to find two more talented people. Those are guys, I am proud to be in their Chris and Phil repertoire. I'm sure you know, I ride and die with those guys. You know, when they left Han Solo and all that. So did I."

There was certainly a lot of controversy when Lucasfilm decided to separate ways with Lord and Miller last year. The directorial duo was already deep in production when they were let go due to creative differences with the studio. Lucasfilm didn't like the way that Lord and Miller were adding too much improve and comedy to the Star Wars spinoff, veering away from the traditional tone of films from Star Wars' galaxy far, far away.

However, while there wasn't any room for too much levity in Solo, it seems like things are working out for Lord and Miller with Sony and Into the Spider-Verse.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is scheduled to premiere on December 14, 2018.
