Spider-Man Homecoming: Tom Holland's Favorite Prop Is The Lego Death Star

Fans who like to dissect movie trailers (myself included) will have known for a while that Star Wars will be a big part of Peter Parker's life. Aside from him referencing Empire Strikes Back in Captain America: Civil War, you can also spot an AT-AT and an X-Wing in his room in the first trailer. Besides those, we also see Ned Leeds holding and dropping a Lego Death Star when he discovers Peter is Spider-Man—coincidentally, that Death Star was also Tom Holland's favorite prop in the film.

In an interview with IGN, Holland admits:

"My favorite prop in the film, I think, was the Lego Death Star. You know, because it was delicate, and we only had seven of them. And we had to break them. And Jacob [Batalon] kept breaking them too early, so it was hilarious. It was a lot of fun."

There's also a fun bit where Leeds is goading on Peter to help him build the Death Star with his little Lego Palpatine. I love how Peter's dorky side is being highlighted in this movie. Though the Raimi films were clear that Peter Parker was a nerd, we never really got to see him have some fun with geek staples in pop-culture. Even Big Bang Theory knows when to hang up the lab coats and put on the cosplay.

For some reason, I'm actually ready to see more of Jacob Batalon's Ned Leeds, who looks to be helping Peter along with his "Spider-Manning" in the movie. We've seen Peter take on everything by himself in past iterations of the character, but this will be a first where we see Peter actually getting help from a friend. That's the only way to get by, according to The Beatles.

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out July 7.
