Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel's Villain will be Connected to the Globe-trotting Plot

After the release of Avengers 4, we'll get to see Peter Parker's next solo adventure with the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Without revealing who the identity of the villain is, Marvel head Kevin Feige confirms that the fact that the movie will be a globe-trotting adventure will have something to do with the big bad's identity.

Talking to Den of Geek, Feige comments:

"We've chosen a villain, and I think the storyline is fairly impacted by the locations we go to… We love the notion of taking Spider-Man to places around the world that we haven't seen him in before. And we have a villain who I think will play into that nicely."

If I had to guess, I'd say that the villain was going to be Kraven the Hunter. Kraven has trotted around the world collecting trophies and hunting animals, so it would make sense for him to get around. If anything, the villain would have to be someone rich and well off—probably Norman Osborn.

Though some people think that the last two Spider-Man franchises have a problem of casting too many villains, I think that it can be handled well as long as one villain is the main focus. Homecoming brought us Vulture, two different Shockers, Tinkerer, and Scorpion, but it didn't feel as convoluted as Spider-Man 3 or The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Catch the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel when it hits theaters July 5, 2019.
