Spider-Man: Homecoming Director Confirms He's Also Involved With Avengers: Infinity War

Jon Watts' name has been thrown around a lot more ever since he got the job to direct Spider-Man: Homecoming, but he's also revealed that he will be attached to the Russo Brothers' highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War.

In an interview with Fandango, Watts has confirmed that he knows what's up with the next Avengers movie. He says:

"Yeah, everyone is aware of what's happening on all the other movies. So if one thing shifts, you make sure it doesn't have dramatic repercussions for your movie. But yeah, that's all on the Russos right now."

My guess is that Peter Parker will be exposed to the alien symbiote in Infinity War, and Watts will have to know how to transition the black Spider-Man suit into the Homecoming sequel. I know that it could be too good of a thing to happen, but I'm betting that the symbiote will be introduced in the form of an after/mid-credits scene.

Speaking of after-credit scenes, Watts has also confirmed that there will also be one at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. He explains:

"Of course! Absolutely. How disappointing would it be if there was just nothing? Like if this was the one movie where we said, nope, no after-credits scene! [laughs]"

Well, Joss Whedon had nothing to reveal at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, but that movie did tire the guy out so much that he opted out of Infinity War. Nice to know that Watts is keeping to tradition; Marvel is the very reason why a new generation of moviegoers now sits through the credits.

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out July 7 this year, and Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4, 2018.
