Sophie Turner Talks About That Major “Emotional” Scene and Sansa’s Future in Game of Thrones Season 6

Finally!

That long-awaited moment which probably every Game of Thrones fan has been waiting for has lastly come true. Two Starks have been reunited – Sansa and Ned's bastard son, Jon Snow.

Following the Starks' tragic separation in season 1, there have been moments in the following seasons where it almost seemed like some of them were finally going to meet. While fans weren't offered any such happy treat before, in Sunday's fourth episode of season 6 titled Book of the Stranger, we saw Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) hugging fiercely after their very emotional reunion at Castle Black.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Turner talked about the momentous scene, saying:

It's such an emotional moment. She finally made it to Castle Black. And there's this look where they're just studying each other's faces, with no expression. Then there's this long embrace. It's just awesome.

The scene was apparently one of the 20-year-old English actress' most-anticipated moments. She said:

I'm most excited for the fact I get to see Kit and get to act with him. Kit is one of my best mates and we had just one scene together in the pilot, where we're waiting on the king. It's like working with an older brother. I've watched his work over the past four years and I think he's amazing. He's so focused and dedicated.

Good things never last, and this was shown in the latest episode as well despite the heartfelt reunion. Sansa and Jon are working towards different paths now – Sansa wants to take back Winterfell from Ramsay Bolton and build her own army. Meanwhile, Jon has had it with fighting.

It's also worth noting how their long-held sibling rivalry has cut short their reunion. Since Sansa takes more after her mother Catelyn, who doesn't favor Ned's illegitimate son, the friction is apparent in the scene as well as her relationship with Jon and Ser Davos.

People can kind of assume that Sansa's very much like her mother and her mother wasn't very fond of Jon. But Sansa is also different from her mother so she tries her best.
She's been through so much. She knows Jon is her older brother and Davos is older and wiser, but she's probably been through more than both of them. She's not just going to go along with other people's decisions.

Turner's last statement certainly aligns with her interview in February where she spoke of her character finally not taking any more shit from anyone. Back in March too, the actress spoke about how the latest season will see Sansa's best story yet.

I had my doubts about Sansa during earlier seasons, but now I'm pretty excited to see how the she will be able to build an army to thwart Ramsay's plans of conquering Winterfell once and for all. She can even be Westeros' Queen in the end for all we know.
